Description: The department offers an exceptional quality of legal advice on the full range of family law issues. Where the case requires it, we are able to draw on the expertise of our colleagues in the immigration, criminal law, housing, mental health and public law departments to provide a really comprehensive service. Much of our work is privately funded (at competitive rates) and we remain committed to undertaking publicly funded family work for more complex and unusual cases.

The introduction of civil partnership in 2005 is a major legal and social landmark. It will bring huge advantages to couples who want to make a lifelong commitment to each other and provide a secure legal framework for lesbian and gay families. It is also expected to have a wider impact by helping to eliminate discrimination against the lesbian and gay community more generally.
