From complex financial disputes, contact arrangements for children and care proceedings we will give you clear thinking, and practical solutions.

The team is committed to public funding from the Legal Services Commission, and holds contracts with that body at all three offices of the Practice.. If you are not eligible we have a competitive costs structure which we will explain clearly at the outset.

Confrontational disputes can be costly in financial and emotional terms. We will always try to find a sensible way forward whilst protecting your interests, so at the end of the day you will be able to get on with your life.

Watkins & Gunn began serving the public as two separate law firms, Watkins & Co., established in 1870, and S.P. Gunn & Gunn established in 1936.

Both firms were well established traditional practices dedicated to providing help and representation in all areas of the law.

In 1985 the two practices amalgamated to form the present day practice of Watkins & Gunn. In 1988, we moved into Glantorfaen House to take up prestigious offices in the centre of Pontypool, from where we have continued to expand to meet the ever-growing needs of our clients.

We believe that the most important aspect of our vocation as solicitors is to provide the public with a comprehensive service that is readily available to everyone. We are committed to provide services under the Legal Services Commission Scheme, and offer free advice for 30 minutes under the Fixed Fee Interview Scheme. We are members of the Union Law Scheme, and offer a first initial interview free under this initiative. Watkins & Gunn is continuing to develop to provide as broad a range of services as possible.

2. Divorce Lawyers from Barnes Richards Rutter
The breakdown of any family relationship causes problems for all involved, the parties and, particularly, any children.

Whether or not married, there are frequently difficulties which arise relating to contact with children, maintenance and the family home.

To guide clients through these problems and to achieve a reasonable settlement of the difficulties, the firm is committed to providing a sympathetic legal service.

Our firm bases our approach to family problems on the assumption that it is in the interests of all involved to try to achieve a settlement by negotiation. This is, of course, not always possible but experience suggests that in the long run Court proceedings and a "fight" over the children or money leads to greater problems.

The reason for this is two-fold.

Firstly it makes any long term possibility of achieving a working relationship more difficult. This can cause problems particularly where there is future contact because of involvement with children.

Secondly there is the question of cost, the longer the case, the more the costs and therefore the less there is available at the end of the day to you.

The firm recognise, however, that in some circumstances a settlement cannot be achieved by negotiation. As soon as this is apparent the firm believes that all avenues available through the Courts should be taken and handled as quickly and effectively as possible.

Our firm of Solicitors was formed on the 1st of January 1996 by an amalgamation of the firms Barnes and Richards and Paul Rutter solicitors. Our breadth of experience and knowledge enable us to provide services in many areas, to help you navigate our site we have split it in to two areas covering both individuals and commercial organisations.
