Name: Frettens - Solicitors (Christchurch, Dorset)

Description: The breakdown of a relationship can be one of the most traumatic periods of anyone's life. Naturally, you will be concerned about your current financial and property arrangements and how it will affect any children you may have.

Our Family Team advises and represents clients in all types of family matters including divorce, co-habitee disputes, children and financial disputes.

We are used to advising clients in difficult emotional situations. We aim to provide sympathetic personal advice tailored to your individual circumstances and requirements. We offer prompt and practical advice on how to cope with problems and resolve them.

Solving family law problems often involves many other aspects of the law. Our Family Team can call on the expertise of other departments within the firm whenever necessary to advise, for example, on company law and tax and trust issues.

Our Family Team has considerable experience in advising and representing high networth clients but also clients from all backgrounds with all types of problems and disputes. Members of the team are members of the Law Society?s Advanced Family Law Panel, 'Resolution' (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association) and the Law Society?s Children Panel.

We are successfully bridging the gap between the small high street practice unable to offer a broad range of specialist legal advice and very large regional and City firms who primarily tailor their services to large corporate clients.

Our breadth of specialist knowledge and common sense approach is complemented by a close working relationship between Fretten?s various practice areas.

It is this combination of partner-led teams, personal service and expertise that allows us to offer the broad range of services all our clients require.

I am currently buying a property in London and was put in touch with Frettens to act as my Solicitor through my Building society who I had arranged my Mortgage with. I have to say that I am extremely unhappy with the service I am currently getting with the admin staff giving out different excuses to both myself and the estate agent who I bought the property through. The excuses amount to things like, 'we have been unable to read the lease and tried to photocopy it lighter to read it', and this has took a week, then they tell us the lease was not good enough after their weeks photocopying so they had to get it sent in the post and then they say there was a page missing which took them 4 days to discover. They never return telephone calls after you leave a message (That is when you finally get through to leave a message) which is rude and unprofessional. Buying a house is stressful enough without the solicitors and the staff who deal with you lying and making up excuses for their lack of cooperation and communication. Before deciding to use Frettens Solicitors to act on your behalf, I would consider using another solicitor if you had any sense.

I would like to speak to someone regarding organising a legal agreement between my ex-partner of 22 years. We have been split since December 2006. We were married in the Dominican republic 3 years ago but am not sure if it was legally binding as photocopies of our birth certificates were used and I did not register it in the UK. We have 3 children, only one under 18. We own a property in London worth approx. £200K. To my knowledge I have to provide for my youngest financially until she is 18. My ex can potentially afford the mortgage by herself and although I do not want to sell the house I obviously wish to protect the considerable investment I have already put in. Please contact me to discuss and potentially arrange an appointment to get something legally drawn up.
