In June 2006, we will have been providing legal services to the people of Sussex and Kent for 100 years.

The firm was created by the partnership of Charles William Mayo and William Gregory Perkins in 1925.

Charles William Mayo was born on 8 November 1879 and qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales in December 1903. He began practising in Eastbourne in 1906.

William Gregory Perkins, who had been practising in Bishop Auckland in Durham, joined Charles William Mayo on 1 April 1925.

Mayo & Perkins were based at 1 Upperton Gardens until 1968. On 1 April of that year, they moved to larger premises: our current address, 20 Gildredge Road, then known as Clarendon House.
