Name: SASlawyers Solicitors Stockport

Description: Separation is when a couple decide to live apart, but neither wants to rush into a divorce. We can help by drafting a Separation Agreement which will regulate the financial and other issues between the couple. Where agreement is possible, both parties will normally benefit from the "cooling off" period offered. Discussions about divorce, where appropriate, can then be taken after a period of reflection, normally based on two years' separation where both parties agree.

Mediation is absolutely nothing to do with attempting to save the marriage. It is a voluntary process by which couples seek to reach an agreement about such things as their children, finances and property. Couples discuss these issues in the presence of a trained independent third party, the mediator. The mediator is usually a qualified solicitor who is instructed jointly by the parties. The mediator is not there to take sides, or to make decisions, but simply to help the couple to co-operate, resolve conflict, reach joint decisions and focus on the needs and feelings of the children.
