Derek Pack, a Partner in the Firm is the Head of the Department. Derek is a member of the Law Society's Children Panel of Specialist Lawyers who are permitted to represent the interests of children in Court proceedings, specifically where the Local Authority has intervened and taken proceedings, often resulting in children being removed from the care of their parents.

These are difficult cases for all concerned and Derek is able to bring his experience to bear, working with parents, professionals, Local Authority representatives and the judiciary in an effort to achieve the best possible outcome for the children involved.

Ailsa Gilhespy, Derek's Senior Assistant, is a member of the Law Society's Family Law Panel of Solicitors. Ailsa specialises in Family Law and brings a wealth of experience to bear in this field. Ailsa is particularly adept in dealing with situations where parties are unable to resolve issues relating to their children, and indeed their finances when relationships come to an end. Ailsa has established a very good relationship with the local Bar (Barristers) and is able to work in conjunction with them to secure the most appropriate settlement.

Derek in turn is experienced in dealing with cases involving substantial assets, including not only property but also shareholdings, Pensions and a variety of other capital assets.
